In his opening statement of his introductory press conference, Arkansas football coach Bret Bielema said, “We will recruit uncommon men here.” He added, “We will recruit men that are held to higher standards. I don’t want my players to be normal. I want them to be uncommon.”
Webster’s Dictionary defines uncommon as, 1. Unusual, not ordinary. 2. Outstanding, exceptional.
Jesus says in John 12:25, HE THAT LOVETH HIS LIFE SHALL LOSE IT; AND HE THAT HATETH HIS LIFE SHALL KEEP IT UNTO LIFE ETERNAL.
*There must be a denial of self to be saved. Man cannot save himself. He must realize he is sick before he will take the medicine (Jesus)
*But to those that are saved, that verse also shows us how He wants us to live our Christian lives.
Common? I think not.
Uncommon? I believe so.
You see, if we love our life ie; our time, our stuff, our wants, then we leave God no room to work in us (Spiritual growth) and through us (as an instrument) to reach others.
We will be so wrapped up in our own affairs that our church attendance, study of scripture and prayer life will wain.
Did I just describe the common Christian? I am afraid so.
God calls us to be a peculiar people, zealous of good works. (Titus 2:14)
What is the definition of peculiar? To be different from the usual; belonging exclusively to
The bible says that we are bought with a price: therefore, we should glorify God in our body, and our spirit, which are God’s (I Cor 6:20)
Dearly beloved let us strive to be……..UNCOMMON
