Admittedly, the title was to get attention; it always gets mine. The word separation tends to cause some people to shout and other people to shirk. Understandably, separation can hold a negative connotation. However, the design of God is to provoke us to move away from the world and the distractions and move us TOWARDS Him. (II Corinthians 6:11-18)
Satan has a design to separate us as well. Satan wants to separate us FROM God. Isaiah 59:2 tells us that iniquities separate us from our God. Consider having no godly influence in your life! I thought on this for a while and came to these conclusions.
When we separate from God:
- We lose the ability to decide. Our thoughts are not right; therefore, our choices will not be right. We literally lose our minds.
- We automatically begin to drift. We are become half in and half out (which ends up being mostly out). With no divine Guide, we are left to ourselves, doing that which is right in our own eyes.
- By now, we are certainly losing direction. We tend to say “he has lost his way.” One has been cast aside into a world that is so attractive yet is so strange to the saint of God.
- We are suffering from a lost destiny. In Jeremiah 29:11, we read that God has certain thoughts towards us that bring about an expected end. God’s plan for our destiny can be missed when we allow iniquity to separate us from our Father.
Today and every day, we must move closer TOWARDS God and not away FROM God.
